Glen Burgess - Food & Beverage Manager
I started my career working in cafes in Rotorua mostly in the kitchens with a sink full of water, as time wore on I saved up and headed out off shore on my OE.
This was the start of my front of house career, in a small village in a small bar in the Cotswold’s England. This then took me on to my first hotel experience in Wexford Ireland and after 4 years headed home to continue what I started in Rotorua. I have been lucky in away that when I arrived back into New Zealand, conferencing and out catering was beginning to take off. My first was Master builders awards night at the convention centre in early 2000 and the largest was 800 plated dinner in Queenstown for winter fest.
I have worked and ran many hundreds of conferences and dinners and ran many different bars and restaurants around the world but I always came back to where it all started Rotorua. Now as a Food and Beverage Manager of Distinction Rotorua I enjoy looking back at all the big and small events I have done and can call upon my experiences in the past to benefit future events, the hotel and myself.
Thank you for taking the time to read a small slice of me and my experiences and I hope to see you all soon.
